Rebecca McKnight
Rebecca is exploring and sharing Liverpool’s ‘hidden’ urban ecology through a process-driven project, which begins with her choosing spaces and places in Liverpool that relate to one of the four elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire.
She is investigating the places through physical and emotional immersion/exploration/surveillance and creating stories, poems, drawings, and installations in the spaces that can be developed into a comic based publication or series paintings to share the stories with the public. By exploring and sharing the hidden ecology within these urban spaces using creativity, she aims to shed light and intrigue on neglected places that are sometimes regarded of as dull and uninspiring.
Rebecca is using the URBAN/ECOLOGY project as an opportunity to conduct preliminary site specific research - developing her ideas and exploration of the 'hidden' city. Her final piece of work will take the form of an immersive mixed media sculptural installation which will come to fruition in spring 2009.
